Confirmed, Paris Saint Germain will play the second leg of their UCL tie without their famed Brazilian star. However, another big-money player will feature in the crunch tie.
French forward Kylian Mbappe has given PSG fans a reason to keep hope alive ahead of their Tuesday tie against Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League match that promises to be loaded with goals.
Following their 3-1 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Ligue 1 leaders had all hopes of turning around the tie in Paris until Neymar broke his metatarsal in a crunch tie against Marseille in the league a week ago.
To make matters worse, Kylian Mbappe suffered an ankle injury against the same opposition, although in a Coupe de France match. However, the teenage sensation is ready to battle Zinedine Zidane’s team tomorrow.
Speaking ahead of the match, the PSG manager Unai Emery noted that “Kylian Mbappe trained normally with the squad yesterday. The only player, apart from Neymar, who did not, was Javier Pastore. Normally all players will be ready for tomorrow’s match against Madrid, except Neymar.”
This almost perfect health situation at the Paris club means that Thiago Motta and Lassana Diarra will both be available when the match kick-starts tomorrow. It also means the manager can call on more experienced players for the important tie. While it is believed that Thiago Silva and Marquinhos will naturally be called upon to fill he centre back roles, Kimpembe is an option too as Emery might not be willing to leave experienced centre back Silva on the bench as he did in the first leg.
The former Sevilla coach said “All three central defenders are ready to play against Real Madrid. We will see after the final training session. The 11 starters and the substitutes will all be important against Real. Everybody will need to chip in.”
Paris Saint Germain will need to do more than they did in the first leg of the tie to triumph over their Spanish rival.
