Copa del Rey final set to cause three LaLiga postponements

Saturday April 21 is the date set for the 2018 Copa del Rey final and, as it coincides with Matchday 34 of LaLiga, clubs can now work out whether they will be affected.Sevilla were the first team to book their place in the showpiece and their home game against Real Madrid that weekend is now postponed, pushing it back to between Matchdays 36 and 37 on the new date of May 9.Also due to be moved is Real Betis’ trip to Atletico Madrid due to Estadio Wanda Metropolitano being the expected venue for the Copa final.Once the other finalist is confirmed, the same fate will either befall Celta Vigo’s game with Valencia or Barcelona’s home encounter with Villarreal, one of which will also be pushed back to May 9.With the Blaugrana nine points clear of Atletico as things stand, it is conceivable that they can collect the domestic double within just a few days, if the Copa is won on April 21 and LaLiga is sealed on the preceding midweek matchday or the subsequent gameweek the weekend after the final.
